Our Ultimate Goal

The ultimate goal of this center is to promote a research mindset among researchers, faculty, students and practitioners. Having a research mindset is the state of continuously engaging in the inquiry process – using research tools, strategies, principles, and best practices to:

  • Search for the potential problem

  • Understand a problem

  • Search for a solution(s) to a problem

  • Implement a solution(s) to a problem

Research Mindset Qualities

There are five qualities that persons with research mindset should have. They should be curious, honest, empathetic, flexible and should engage in self-reflection.

  • Curiosity: It is about asking relevant and critical questions about the phenomenon of interest and actively looking for answers.

  • Honesty: It is about being truthful and transparent in the research inquiry process.

  • Empathy: It is about making an effort to understand the feelings, emotions, perspectives, beliefs, and background of potential participants of a study or stakeholders of a project.

  • Flexibility: It is about a willingness to adjust the research process and strategies when needed.

  • Self-reflection: It is about thinking about your role, background and perspective as you engage in research.
